This time the inspiration came from the Everglades wetlands in Florida. With modifications to survive in the very terrain it is named after, the Ford Bronco Everglades is here.
Ever since Ford Bronco debuted and set the sales charts on fire, people have been speculating about the arrival of a faster version. It was speculated to be either called the Warthog or simply, the Bronco Raptor. Now the rumor mills can rest – the 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor is out in the open and it is bonkers.
Ford has brought the iconic Bronco name back from the dead. One of the most anticipated cars of the century after a concept was teased way back in 2004, we finally have a new one hit the streets, and got our grubby hands on one.
When Ford launched the Bronco SUV, it was almost certain that a high-performance version was in the works. Dubbed the Ford Bronco Raptor or possibly Warthog, the high-performance Bronco will up the appeal of the SUV, especially with the V8 Jeep Wrangler right around the corner. Ford has now teased us with a lively picture of the upcoming fast Bronco, albeit with heavy camouflage.
The Ford Bronco caused quite a stir when it debuted about a month ago, far more than anything that rivals from Jeep and Land Rover could cook up. However, with the top engine option limited to a 310 hp 2.7-litre turbo V6, it seemed like Ford left something on the table for a future higher-performance model such as a Ford Bronco Raptor. That plan was invariably “confirmed” after a long-time Ford engineer mentioned he (or she?) is working on a “2023 Bronco Raptor” on their LinkedIn job profile.
While the new 2021 Ford Bronco is squarely aimed at taking on the big gun, the Jeep Wrangler, Ford launched another member to the family with a different aim. The 2021 Bronco Sport is a smaller crossover wearing the Bronco badge, locking horns with the smaller Jeeps like the Compass Trailhawk and a large list of other competitors.
Since it was first teased back in 2004, enthusiasts across the world had been waiting for Ford to bring back the Bronco, long dead after starring in the infamous O.J. Simpson police chase a decade prior to that. And it’s finally happened. The resurrected Ford Bronco is back as a 2021 model year, planned out as a serious threat to the Jeep Wrangler, ending its solo act in the off-road segment ever since the Toyota FJ Cruiser was nixed globally. And it is going to be an entire line-up of offroad vehicles to take on Jeep as a whole.
Ford fans from around the world have been waiting for the boffins at Michigan to resurrect the legendary Bronco nameplate. The wait is now officially coming to an end. Ford has announced that 24 years after it got phased out, the Ford Bronco SUV is coming back in 2020.
