Hyundai launches 2011 i10, ix20 and Solaris worldwide
Hyundai has revealed three new models at separate venues around the world within the space of a week. They are i10 mini-hatchback, the ix20 hatchback-MPV and the Solaris sub-compact sedan that will become the next Accent.
The 2011 Hyundai i10 hatchback was launched in India with a choice of 68 hp 1.1-litre and 80 hp 1.2-litre engines. A 1.0-litre engine will also be available in Europe. It is largely a frontal facelift and should become available in the UAE and other GCC countries soon.
The 2011 Hyundai ix20 hatchback, or mini-MPV by some definitions, was revealed in Europe with a choice of 1.1-litre and 1.4-litre engines. It is unknown if this model will be offered in the Middle East, considering mini-MPV thingies are not even close to being as popular in the Middle East as they are in Europe.
The 2011 Hyundai Solaris was launched in Russia with a choice of 109 hp 1.4-litre and 124 hp 1.6-litre engines. After being revealed in Korea as the Verna and in Russia as the RB concept earlier, the Solaris seems to be the best candidate to be released in the GCC as the 2011 Accent.

Kia made cee’d, Hyundai wanted a piece of it’s goodness, and made the i30. Of the 2, I like the Kia’s styling better.
Kia made Venga, Hyundai made their own version and called it ix20. The styling seemed to be better than Venga when i saw the front but then as i reached the rear, it felt like, the rear wasn’t going well with the rest of the body and thus, I still like the Venga overall.
Anyway, coming to the other cars, I think the i10 really gains a lot in terms of styling with this new Hyundai signature-front design.
And still waiting to see what engines the Mid East Elantra gets.
