Nissan Patrol classic 3-door with 4.8-litre engine for 2012
We’d already heard about it from our sources at the Nissan dealership, so this is just a confirmation. The older-generation Nissan Patrol, currently still available in 5-door form alongside the new Patrol, will also be offered in the 3-door short-wheelbase body style for 2012 in the UAE.
According to info and photos sent in by reader M. Hajooni, the 3-door Nissan Patrol Safari will be exclusively available with the long-running 4.8-litre inline-6 engine, possibly with the choice of manual as well as automatic transmissions. We expect there will be one simple spec, with fog lamps, painted bumpers, fake wood trim and manual a/c. And it still looks the same as it has for the past decade.
Considering Nissan Middle East isn’t too keen on promoting the classic Patrol, we’re not sure if further official information will ever be available when it does hit showrooms quietly.

Weirdest thing I ever heard is the Nissan Employee told me the New Shape is coming in 3 doors. And with a manual transmission.
vivek
the “new” shape he is referring to might turn out to be the decade-old shape reappearing as new for 2012! 😀

May be true.

Features I might love to get in the old Nissan Patrol are proper rear A/C instead of cooler and all windows with one touch up and down feature like in LC.

The old shape model is still sold for around 177,000DHS.

I would re-release the car with a nissan’s new engine ranges.. That 4.8 I6 is thristy..
Nevertheless this is one of the most solid and most successful 4x4s in the reigon and im not surprised that demand is strong for this model, it has more appeal than the new lexusey patrol..
spyke
I heard through some nissan Australia website that they plan on keeping this model going just like what toyota did with the Rub3 landcruiser and the LC 80/100/200 series.
The new patrol will be the more upscale one while those looking for a no frills package could have the older shape.

It seems from one perspective, that is a very good move. The 2011/12 model has been deemed too expensive by many potential customers, with a base price from Dhs 195,000. That said, the vehicle is certainly upmarket in terms of technology, comfort and quality.
I agree with spyke, this cheaper model would certainly push customers to rethink, but i still have a problem with the specs. That 4.8L V6 isn’t fuel efficient at all. It would have made more sense to opt for Nissan’s 4.0L ( which by the way powers the Pathfinder & Xterra). It’s relatively more powerful ( in terms of engine capacity to power) and consumes less fuel.
but then again, like the article says they don’t really have big plans to promote it, so i guess they wont really care.

Yah fuel economy is the big deal these days petrol prices are so high wt u guys say abt prado 3door 2.7 is it a fuel effiecent car in ur opinions ?
Rahul Jones
I have driven the Hiace with the same 2.7 ltr engine and that was very much fuel efficient.

I want it.. but for 155k. it is priced at 170k.. which is too darn expensive.. but then again.. the demand for the vtc hardtop is high.

LOVE THE OLD PATROL n TB48DE str8 six

Between the 2011 Landcruiser and the Old school Nissan, what would you guys reccomend ?
ROJ
I love the old school nissan, its a car for those that prefer to own more of a truck than a car.. The Landcruiser would be more luxurious and refined..

Last prices for the 4,8 ltr. SWB are manual 143,500 automatic 148,500 and as Safari will be 165,000 manual and 177,500 automatic. The basic manual is well
Worth considering but is….very, very basic. Still the automatic is 25,000 less than the 4-door. The engine might be thirsty but can be easily hyped up for little money.

Am planning to get one . But it will be so surprising if the new shape will also be available in 3 doors !! Any ideas about when the new shape will be published in 3 doors and will it affect the price of this ?!

Any of you have news about the patrol 4.8 3doors? Will be on the market during this year?
thanks.
Omar
I called the dealer here in Qatar and they confirmed that the old shape is coming soon “within one week!!” it will be a 4.8 – 3 doors – GLV basic trim auto and manual trans. at around 140,000 QR (high)
Wahabkuwait
Hello its availible in kuwait in the same specs but its 170.000AED i just asked for one today.

Anyone have Saudi pricing on the 3-door basic spec in manual or auto? Are these available in KSA yet?
Khaled
Guys be aware of the specs difference between the full option and the basic model. One important option is diff. lock, which is not available in the basic model in most dealers. Does any of you know the weight of the 3 doors 4.8?
Salah
i bought one 2 months ago..very good car for offroad but it is not the car u wont for everyday use, the car maker did notr think of the petrol consumption. Im willing to sell my car (pearl white) for the right price? ne1 interested let me knw..ill check the website
Khaled
Is it a manual or Auto? How many kms would a full tank last?
anazaz
the new for 2011 nissan patrol will most likely not be available in a configuration with anything less then 4 doors because of some regulations in other countries that havily tax 4×4 cars that have less then 4 doors (to protect domestic manufacturers) .
an example of this is the toyota prado, toyota made the fj cruiser with more than 4 doors to be able to sell the car at a competitive price (for the usa).
as far as the classic nissan patrol it will remain in production for as long as the tooling and molds last (its a manufacturing thing) most likely there will be no significant changes done to it so that there will be no retooling needed(very expensive).
Khaled
Nissan Patrol has 4 doors for more than 30 years, but still its not available in the U.S.A, plus not all countries manufacture cars, so what you are saying about 2 doors 4X4 makes no sense at all !!!!!!!!
anazaz
dear sir
the reason the classic patrol is not sold in the usa is because of the engine design which is claimed to be based on an another american engine (dont remember which) and to avoid trouble nissan did not officially sell the car with that engine in the usa.
the import/export law concerning foreign made (not usa) suv with 4 doors stipulates that 20% (old figure, not sure if it has changed) tax shall be levied on such suv’s if imported to the usa, that makes the price inflated by 20% rendering it uncompetitive.
as you do know (or maybe not) all countries have laws to protect local manufacturers and to control the import of competitive products (its called protectionism). if you want any farther information on this topic google it.
question?
what was the last 2 door 4×4 suv made outside north america sold in the usa?
it is common knowledge that cars are made and sold in some countries based on certain rules and regulations imposed by them regions. example; the gulf specifications for the import of new cars.
many cars dont make it to our markets because of manufacturing limitations on meeting some demands of some regions.
Khaled
So based on what you are saying, the new Nissan Patrol 4 doors with 5.6L engine (Titan & Armada engine) should make it the USA right?
anazaz
