Long-term update: 2012 Volkswagen Passat CC practicality
The fact that the Volkswagen CC is just a chopped-top version of the regular Passat would mean that space would be compromised. But that’s hardly the case.
We made our six-footer friend sit in the back, and there was still enough headroom to clear his scalp. Legroom is the same as the regular Passat, so that was a non-issue.
Also, we recently dropped someone off at the airport for an Emirates flight, and the boot comfortably fit her 35 kilos of luggage. Her excess baggage all fit back there, even with the space-hogging goose-neck lid hinges, so we didn’t have to use our Jeep Grand Cherokee.
It’s no wonder that the CC most-likely outsold the Passat here, based on how many we see on the roads. That stylish shape hardly comes with any practical penalty.

Dear Mash;
Would u advise someone to pay approx 12-15k AED extra and get the v6, or the 2L turbo top of the range is good enough, regards.
Mashfique Hussain Chowdhury
I suspect you’ll probably be happy with the 2.0T for daily driving. But the V6 with AWD is the car to have for driving hard even in the rain.

hey mash did u time 0-100 yet?
Mashfique Hussain Chowdhury
nope
Hany
Thanks mash for your reply,
However ,Knowing that the BMW 320 lies approximately in the same price bracket of the top range CC 2.0 T, How would you decide about buying the CC or the 320? It is very confusing !!!
ANy Suggestions please,
Regards.
Mashfique Hussain Chowdhury
I dunno. Your decision.

I’m assuming the CC will have more interior room compared to the 320i. Plus it does look better as I personally find the 320i a tad boring.
ROJ
I really like this car.. It is rich in character.

@Hany: There are alot of factors which come into play when comparing the two. The BMW 320i starts around 145,000, while I believe the CC is relatively cheaper for the 2.0L and cost adds up as options are added.
The 320i only churns around 170 hp, while the CC produces around 210 hp.CC uses a dual clutch DSG 6-speed, while BMW sticks to a normal 6 speed auto or manual.
I agree with Faisal, the interior space is quite less on the BMW.
Service intervals are 15,000 kms for the CC, while 10,000 for the BMW.
BMW’s 2012 3-series has come out with a new shape, series of engines, with 320i slated for next year, so you may find yourself getting hold of a vehicle that’s going to be outdated in less than a year 😛
I still think BMW’s are overpriced, but then again so is VW, but atleast there is value in the VW through options.

I have been in BMW showroom recently, frankly I didnt like the finishing of the interior, I’m not saying it is bad, but it comes below the Merc and Audi after checking the three of them, of course I’m talking about Audi A6-5 Series-Merc E series, the Audi impressed me most. but still I didnt check the CC yet
