Mercedes-Benz GL-Class 2010 gets facelift

The large Mercedes-Benz GL-Class is receiving a minor facelift for the 2010 model year, along with minor upgrades to the interior.

The exterior changes include a redesigned chrome underbody plates up front and at the back, a new front grille with LED daytime running lights, new bumpers, reworked chrome tailpipes and two new metallic exterior paint choices. Light alloy wheels with sizes ranging from 18-inch to 21-inch form part of the available wheel choices.

The seven-seater GL-Class has a spacious interior that now gets redesigned leather seats with contrasting trimming, while the top-of-the-line GL 500 model will be available with exclusive nappa leather appointments. All vehicles will have a new range of instruments, a multifunction nappa leather steering wheel and crash-responsive NECK PRO comfort headrests for the driver and the front-seat passenger. Optional equipment includes two-tone leather appointments and the indirect ambient lighting.

Models include the GL 500’s with a 388 hp 5.5-litre V8 engine. Within 6.5 seconds the vehicle can accelerate from zero to 100 kph, and the top speed of 240 kph. In the GL 450, there is the 340 hp 4.6-litre V8 engine. The vehicle accelerates from zero to 100 kph in 7.2 seconds and has a top speed of 235 kph.

The model should reach Dubai and Abu Dhabi showrooms by the end of this summer. While these changes are not enough to improve sales of the slow-selling full-size 4×4 in any way, interested consumers can keep track of changes to the GCC-spec version in the Mercedes-Benz GL-Class buyer guide.
