DS E-Tense concept to debut at Geneva Motor Show
Citroën’s spin-off nameplate DS starts its life as a separate luxury brand with the unveiling of an all-new, all-electric E-Tense 2-door sports car. It will be unveiled to the public at the upcoming 2016 Geneva Motor Show.
The bodywork, made over a carbon-fibre chassis, looks edgy and futuristic as it flaunts the French design language adopted by DS. The LED daytime running lights up front are equipped to rotate 180 degrees. The rear of the car also gets the LED treatment with the taillights and turn indicators integrated onto the roof.
The E-Tense fetches its power from a set of lithium-ion batteries hidden in the floor and an electric engine at the back. This combo produces 402 hp of power and 515 Nm of torque, enough to propel the E-Tense from 0-100 kph within 4.5 seconds. DS says that it will return an overall range of 310 km.
The E-Tense relies on cameras for outward vision as it omits the rear window completely. So the designers have etched some peculiar shapes at the back but we will have to wait and see how it looks in the flesh. The car also comes with a 12-inch main display and a 10-inch infotainment system on which the driver can fiddle with all the car controls.
The E-Tense is only a concept for now, but it provides us a glimpse at the future styling direction of the Citroen brand.
