BMW has released details on the new 2017 2-Series. While it looks virtually the same, the main changes are the new names for the models and slight power upgrades.

The 2-Series will now follow BMW’s new nomenclature, thereby changing the 228i to 230i, and the M235i becoming M240i.

The 230i, which gets a turbocharged 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine will now produce 248 hp and 336 Nm of torque. The 240i, which comes with a turbocharged 3.0-litre engine, will now churn out about 335 hp and 500 Nm of torque.

The 2017 BMW 2-Series should make its way to the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and other GCC countries by the end of the year.

Keep track of the latest prices and updates in the BMW 2-Series buyer guide.

  1. If an Alpina version is available, I’m interested.

  2. Why does M235i cost 260,000 in the GCC while outside its in the range of 170,000 ~ 190,000 USD
