Ferrari reveals convertible LaFerrari Spider
Ferrari’s hypercar, the LaFerrari, hnow has a companion Spider version. Ferrari tweeted images of the new car which put an end to all speculation. The company showed the model to potential customers in a private event earlier this year, where it was sold out immediately.
The Laferrari Spider will retain the 949 hp hybrid V12 powertrain of the Coupe. This will power the Spider to a 0-100 kph time of 2.9 seconds and onwards to a top speed of 349 kph. Obviously, the carbon-fibre tub chassis was reworked to maintain the rigidity of the structure. The aerodynamics also received attention as the convertible has the same drag coefficient of the coupe. A carbon-fibre as well as a soft top will be offered.
At the October Paris Motor Show, the LaFerrari will make its first public reveal. The name and full specs will be released then. The drop-top is estimated to cost 40% more than the Coupe, at $1.4 million. The production is limited to about 150-200 units, which will make it one of the most exclusive cars on the planet.
