2020 Lincoln Aviator arrives with plug-in hybrid version
After gaining some success with their updated large SUV, the Navigator, Ford’s luxury brand Lincoln has flung the covers off its little brother. The 2020 Lincoln Aviator arrives with “aviation” inspired design and a plug-in hybrid version.
The looks of the Aviator is similar to its bigger brother, albeit with a less boxy profile. The blacked out pillars give the Aviator a floating roof design. The interior is filled with elements inspired by Bell and Ross, a watchmaking company which uses aviation-inspired designs. The “engine-turned” aluminium accents are a nod to vintage aircraft cockpit panels. The combo of a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a head-up-display is dubbed the “glass cockpit.”
The 2020 Lincoln Aviator is filled with creature comforts like cooled seats with massaging and a bevy of adjustments, a 28-speaker Revel Ultima audio system and more. Lincoln also brings up a pioneering “Phone As A Key” technology which lets you use your smartphone as a key, completely eliminating the usage of the physical key.
The petrol powered Aviator sports a twin-turbo 3.0-litre V6 connected to a 10-speed automatic transmission producing 400 hp and 542 Nm. This power can be sent through an optional all-wheel-drive system. The plug-in-hybrid version of the Lincoln Aviator features a petrol-electric hybrid powertrain with 450 hp and 813 Nm.
Expect the new model to reach UAE, KSA and other GCC showrooms by the end of 2019.
