2021 Toyota Land Cruiser debuts in August, claims Japanese media
An all-new 2021 Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Series will supposedly be revealed in August with a twin-turbocharged hybrid V6 instead of a V8 engine, as per a new report from Japan.
Japan’s Best Car Web claims that the new Land Cruiser “300 Series” will come with a 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 hybrid powertrain, and will produce 313 hp and 356 Nm, which is actually far less than the existing 5.7-litre V8, but it is suggested that the new model will be lighter to compensate. It is also possible that there will be less-complicated engine options available in lower-spec models, as such fancy mechanicals won’t fly well with desert-safari enthusiasts and operators.
It is also claimed that the turbo-hybrid version will have a CVT automatic, which is Toyota’s favourite transmission of choice when it comes to their hybrid cars.
The car pictured here is just a guess in terms of styling, but the new model isn’t expected to be vastly different in size compared to the current model. It is already much smaller than the Nissan Patrol, Ford Expedition and Chevy Tahoe. It is also expected that the Land Cruiser will continue to have a body-on-frame chassis, although it is unclear if it will finally get independent rear suspension like its rivals.
It is also suggested that the new Land Cruiser will be offered with five or eight seats, with 17, 18 and 20-inch alloy wheel options. And a full suite of active safety features will be available.
If true, the 2021 model will be the first complete revamp of the Land Cruiser since late 2007, as it has survived more than a decade with multiple facelifts inside and out, and starting to lose market share to more refined rivals. This comes alongside news that the current Land Cruiser will soon be discontinued in the United States due to low sales, where it was always sold as in expensive top-trim V8 versions.

First sentence: “An all-new 2010 Toyota Land Cruiser…”. You mean 2021. Perhaps your mind was on the first year of the current model. 😉

313 HP? For Land Cruiser? Is this a joke?
P.S. Outer design is nice, but if maximal power for GCC will be 311 HP, TOYOTA better not to sell this car here…
sepehr
what this engine produces is a shame for toyota be careful with LAND CRUISER
Hamza
313 hp and only 356 nm of torque from a twin turbo hybrid V6? The figures are lacking.
I hope these aren’t the final power figures for the new Land Cruiser.
Also, that eCVT that Toyota likes to use? No thanks!!

I’m not impressed at all. The symbol of V8 engine will be missed. I’d rather stick with the older models 5.7 V8 engine. They are the best engines on the market in terms of reliability .
