2021 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Veloce Ti added to range

2021 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Veloce Ti added to range

The Alfa Romeo Stelvio has been a bit of a dud since its launch with much fanfare a few years ago. Oddly styled, poorly trimmed and confusingly marketed, FCA (soon to be Stellantis) figured one way to boost sales would be to bridge the gap between the overly powerful Quadrofoglio and the oft-forgotten regular range. With the 2021 model update, squeezing in is a new Alfa Romeo Stelvio Veloce Ti trim.

The new Stelvio Veloce Ti is not a warm model to occupy the performance gap between the regular Stelvio and the Quadrifoglio. It is a new top trim above the regular Stelvio Veloce with some added features. Visually, the Stelvio Veloce Ti does not look that far off from the regular models, On the exterior, a new set of 21-inch gloss black alloy wheels gives it a bit more character. Slight updates to the window surround and new badges round off the exterior updates. Inside, the Veloce Ti offers aluminium gearshift paddles, leather and Alcantara upholstered sports seats, carbon fibre accents and a black headliner.

The power for the Stelvio Veloce Ti comes from the same 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine, still churning out 280 hp. This mill is married to an 8-speed automatic transmission that channels the power to all four-wheels through Alfa’s Q4 AWD system.

The Veloce Ti trim feels like a half-baked attempt at an update, and doesn’t do the job of filling the gaping hole in the model range except in price. Expect it to show up at your local Alfa dealer later in 2021.
