2023 Hyundai Palisade gets bolder with design refresh
Hyundai was never a big name in anything beyond small crossovers in the SUV industry. The Hyundai Palisade changed that by putting the South Korean marque on the larger end of the SUV map. Now, the biggest SUV gets a bold refresh. The 2023 Hyundai Palisade adds a stronger design, more tech, and an XRT model.
The new cascading grill is turning into a mainstay SUV design feature in Hyundais. The biggest SUV of them all does not shy away from using it either. The size of the grill should not hit anyone by surprise as we are all used to gaudy grills. Ahem! BMW! The fact is that the neatly integrated top wings do a good job in integrating the grill to the front face. The headlamps sit in a vertical fashion in the lower fascia, just like the outgoing model. Unlike the smaller Tucson, the Palisade does not flaunt lighting elements in its grill. Nothing big has happened at the rear despite the rumors of it coming with a split tailgate.
Inside, the dash design gets a revamp, and a new steering wheel. The AC vents rest in a thin strip that runs from the instrument cluster to the passenger side. The rear view mirror is also a full screen, and the driver gets a new Ergo-motion seat. It is not just the driver who enjoys new seat features. The second-row passengers now enjoy seat ventilation and wing-out headrest. Those who sit in the final row also get something new, heated seats.
On the tech front, the 2023 Palisade is a classic Hyundai. The wireless charging upgrades to a 15-watt system. To take the wireless game even further, there is a Wi-Fi hotspot facility, as well as wireless compatibility for Android and iPhone devices via a Digital Key 2 Touch System. Should you prefer some wires, there are many C-type ports littered around. The safety tech gets an upgrade in the form of side, rear-impact airbags are now offered as standard. Numerous driver-assist systems are also offered.
Should you prefer your SUV to be a bit more SUV than a crossover, you can opt for a new Palisade XRT. It adds a rugged vibe to this family SUV with more darkened bits, “skid-plate design elements”, black wheels, black interior, and more.
The changes to the 2023 Hyundai Palisade go only as far as the skin. The engine is still the 3.8-litre V6 unit that pumps out 291 hp via an eight–speed auto box. As usual, front-wheel-drive is standard while all-wheel-drive arrives as an option.
