First Look: What’s New About the 2025 Volkswagen Golf GTI

What’s new for 2025?
The 2025 Golf GTi model has updated infotainment software, a larger touchscreen and an enhanced voice assistant. The problematic touch-sensitive buttons on the steering wheel from the previous model have been replaced with new controls. The new GTI model features restyled headlights, taillights, wheel designs, and bumper designs. Power has also increased in the 2025 model.

Like the previous model, the 2025 GTI is equipped with the same 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, but output rises to an estimated 261 horsepower from the previous 241 horsepower. It continues to operate with Front-Wheel Drive (FWD). The quick-shifting seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission remains. The new model boasts a quicker 0-100 kph acceleration of 6.3 secs, and fuel efficiency is 7.5 l/100km.
Exterior Features
The 2025 Golf GTI introduces four new exterior colours: Anemone Blue Metallic, Oyster Silver Metallic, Grenadilla Black Metallic and Crystal Ice Blue Metallic. The hatchback has received subtle modifications to its exterior design, including a slightly revised grille that creates a bolder front fascia. The taillights are more square-shaped, and the light-up ‘VW’ badge adds an extra visual highlight.
Additional exterior features include LED headlights with daytime running lights and taillights, front fog lights, highway lights, chrome exhaust tailpipes, side mirrors with memory and power-folding functions.
Interior Features
The entertainment and touch controls have been upgraded in the new GTI with a more responsive design. The interior features an upgraded “MI”4″ s” software system, a standard 10.0-inch touchscreen display (12.9 inches in higher trims), an enhanced voice assistant, six speakers, wireless charging, front and rear USB ports, 3-zone Climatronic AC, active ventilation for the front seats, a sunroof, a roof spoiler, keyless access with push-button start and 30-colour ambient lighting.
Safety Features of the Volkswagen Golf GTI 2025
The 2025 Volkswagen Golf GTI is equipped with a range of safety features, including a multi-collision brake system, front, side, curtain, and centre airbags, blind spot detection with Side Assist, Park Assist, and Rear Assist, cruise control, a tyre pressure monitoring system, the Emergency Call System (eCall), and an electromechanical parking brake with an Auto-Hold function.
