Dodge Charger 2013 Overview
The redesigned-for-2011 Dodge Charger looks a bit like the old model, and still uses a lot of the same underpinnings, but feels like a completely different car compared to its predecessor. Identifiable by its larger snout and 164-LED tail lamps, the new rear-wheel-drive Charger features updated suspension, upgraded engines and a much nicer interior. The new 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 version, mated to a 5-speed automatic with manual capability, comes in two trim levels. For 2012, an 8-speed automatic also became available for the V6. The base "Express" model gets a manual a/c, cruise control, cloth upholstery, 18-inch alloy wheels, 6-speaker CD/MP3 stereo with 4.3-inch touchscreen and USB port, auto headlights, intelligent keyless entry and other standard features. The "Lux" trim level additionally comes with an 8.4-inch touchscreen, stereo amplifier, auto a/c with rear vents, power seats, heated/cooled cup-holders, leather, remote start, Bluetooth, HID headlights, sunroof and more. The 5.7-litre Hemi V8 model, with a 5-speed automatic with manual capability, comes in three trim levels. The base "Full House" trim gets almost all the features of the top V6 model except for leather and fancy cup-holders, but gains sportier suspension and brakes. The "Lux" adds power seats, the fancy cup-holders, premium audio and a few other features. The top "R/T" model gets the "Road and Track" performance package with sportier suspension, steering, exhaust, grille, spoiler, 20-inch alloys and a 3.06 axle ratio instead of the stock 2.65 one. The top model, the Charger SRT8, was released in 2012 with a 6.4-litre V8 mated to a 5-speed automatic. Standard SRT8 features include leather upholstery, UConnect multimedia system with touchscreen, 20-inch wheels, rear spoiler and more, along with a unique exterior kit. The Superbee SRT8 gained special graphics, but came with standard suspension rather than the full-spec SRT8's adaptive ones, along with fewer other features. Standard safety features on all models include front, side and curtain airbags, ABS, stability control, tyre pressure monitor and optional adaptive cruise control with auto braking.
