The Fortuner is Toyota's cheapest SUV offering. The Fortuner is the product of Toyota's International Multi-Purpose Project family, which also includes the Hilux pick-up and the Innova. These three vehicles share the same platform and are built in Indonesia. Although this 4WD is based on a pickup, its styling is very softly finished, with none of its truck-like toughness showing. It has true off-road ability, thanks to four-wheel-drive with low-range gearing. It also has space for five, or optionally seven, and its value-packed price has attracted families rather than desert junkies. The Fortuner is available here with a 2.7-litre 4-cylinder as well as a 4.0-litre V6 engine. Most markets offer four-wheel-drive as standard, but a two-wheel-drive version is also offered in Saudi markets. It has space for five adults and two kids. Features include power windows, dual front airbags, keyless entry, 4-speaker CD/MP3 stereo with USB port, and fabric upholstery, although the basic model is only offered in Saudi Arabia and few other GCC countries. Higher trim levels, which is standard now in the UAE, get fake wood, cruise control, chrome body trimmings, navigation, 17-inch alloy wheels, rear diff lock, ABS, multi-information display, 6-speaker CD stereo and optional leather. Top-spec Saudi models get HID headlights, power driver's seat and wi-fi features as well.
