New 2009 Jaguar XF fully unveiled
The 2009 Jaguar XF has been unveiled, as a replacement for the aging S-Type. However, engines continue to be the same.
The new design obviously tries to stay true to the C-XF concept, although the front end suffers in the translation to production form. Not good, considering this is the car that is supposed to save Jaguar’s poor financial situation.
Engines include a 240 hp 3.0-litre V6 with 299 Nm or torque, a 4.2-litre V8 with 300 hp and 420 Nm, and a 420 hp supercharged 4.2-litre V8 with 553 Nm. There is also a turbodiesel engine for the European market. All engines will be mated to Jaguar’s six-speed automatic with steering wheel-mounted paddles. The 0-100 kph for an XF with the supercharged V8 will take an estimated 5.4 seconds, while the standard V8 car is at 6.5 seconds and the V6 is at 8.3 seconds. Top speeds are limited to 250 kph.
The interior has all the usual electronics, but new to this rather dull cabin are these hide-away a/c vents, and a knob instead of a stick for selecting gears.
