Veritas RS III Roadster begins limited production
The Veritas RS III Roadster has begun its limited production run and first customer deliveries will take place in January 2010. Built by Vermot AG, this cockroach of a car has already been sold to eight customers, but none from the Middle East yet. The eight are part of only 30 that will be produced. It takes 15 people about eight weeks to build one car and three cars at a time will be built.
Constructed of a lightweight carbon-fibre body, the Veritas RS III Roadster features ceramic brakes, sports suspension and “1+1” seating, with the second seat hidden beneath a cover.
The Veritas weighs in at only 1,080 kg, and comes with a BMW 5.0-litre V10, good for 507 hp at 7750 rpm and 520 Nm of torque at 6100 rpm. The engine is mated to a 7-speed SMG transmission, but a 6-speed manual is optional. In terms of performance, 0-100 kph takes less than 3.2 seconds, while top speed is 347 kph.
The Veritas is priced at the equivalent of Dhs 1.9 million for what is essentially a barebones track tool.
