Lexus GX460 2010 for U.S. market based on Prado

Lexus GX460 2010 for U.S. market based on Prado

2010 Lexus GX460
The U.S. market gets an extensive line of Toyota 4×4 models, including the 4Runner and Highlander to fill up the midsize segment. That left no room for the Prado, which is what the rest of the world gets. However, Toyota has been selling a slightly-altered version of the Prado in the United States, calling it the Lexus GX470. That model has now been replaced by a new 2010 GX460 model, based on the all-new 2010 Prado.

The most obvious difference between the GCC-spec Prado and the US-spec GX460 is the front-end styling, with small changes to the rear light clusters and a completely unique dashboard. We assume the cabin trim quality is also a notch better, while even a few control buttons have been changed for a more premium feel.

However, the real news is under the bonnet, as the Lexus version comes exclusively with a 4.6-litre V8, good for 301 hp and a solid 446 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed automatic. It replaces the outgoing GX470’s 4.7-litre V8, also found in the Land Cruiser, offering more power and efficiency.

In terms of equipment, almost everything else is the same as that found in the top-spec Toyota Prado VX-L, except maybe for items such as lane-departure warning, front knee airbags, hard-disc and a fancy rear-seat DVD system.

It would seem that the rest of the world has to be content with a V6-powered Prado, or move up to a Land Cruiser for a V8. For UAE prices and specs, visit the Toyota Prado buyer guide.

Update: The Lexus GX is now on sale in the GCC.

  1. It looks quite nice actually..

  2. only the front does. the rear is still messed up as the prado’s is. maybe it could look better on bigger rims too in this segment.
now although again, the interior looks amazing, this time, the steering wheel is just out of place for a luxury vehicle! not sure why but maybe its the size?

  3. front and interior looks good only…

  4. Prados’ styling has been acceptable for me, acceptable because the dimensions are weird. Just reduce the height and add a little width, then its almost perfect. My only gripe with prados’ is the odd narrow look. LOL 🙂

  5. And to think..

After all this mambo jambo of toyota and lexus..

Like everybody knows.. There isn’t a single lexus in sight on the busy roads of Tokyo..

Now there’s a food for thought..

  6. HA HA , Ib i totaly agree wit u cuz no single lexus on tokyo, they playin the market it’s like two brothers soccer teams play’n one another to show they are different in the field.
