Rimac’s Concept One battery-powered supercar

Rimac Automobili, a Croatian based company, has unveiled the world’s first electric supercar, the Concept One, powered by a new propulsion system.

Rimac Automobili has developed a unique powertrain which is divided into four sub-systems (consisting of one motor, inverter and reduction gearbox) that drives one wheel independent from the other called All Wheel Torque Vectoring. Powered by a 92-kWh lithium phosphate battery pack, power is rated at 1088 hp with 3.800 Nm of motor torque with a range of 600 km. Acceleration from a standstill to 100 km/h is done in just 2.8 seconds with a top speed of 305 km/h.

The exterior design is simple and futuristically elegant with exposed carbon fibre on the sides as well as a tie shaped duct that acts as an air inlet as well as the cover for the electric plug. The tail lights have a unique deep 3D tunnel effect and animated indicators. The stunning interior has been designed by a team of former Pininfarina employees, and then outfitted by Bulgarian custom studio Vilner for the elaboration of the interior, colour combination and leather design accent.

RimacAutomobili is young company that develops and produces high performance electric vehicles, drive trains and battery systems. Their first car might just be a concept right now, but with a promising beginning there is much to look forward to from a small team of 20 engineers and designers.
