2013 Audi Q5 gets a host of engine upgrades
For 2013, Audi have given their Q5 crossover a mid-life facelift. The styling updates are subtle, so are the interior enhancements.
However, changes under the hood are substantial. The 2013 Q5 will now be available with three diesels, two gasoline engines and even a hybrid powertrain.
The smaller 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine can be ordered in two states of tune, with 143 hp or 177 hp. There is also a 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine on offer which produces a very healthy 245 hp.
The range of petrol engines start with the 225 hp turbocharged 2.0-litre 4-cylinder. If you fancy more power you can opt for the new 272 hp supercharged 3.0-litre V6 which replaces the outgoing 3.2-litre V6 motor.
The highlight however is the hybrid powertrain. It pairs a 211bhp turbocharged 2.0-litre 4-cylinder with a 54 hp electric motor. Torque-multiplying responsibilities are shouldered by an 8-speed automatic that transfers power to all four wheels. The claimed time for the 0-100 kph dash is 7.1 seconds and the mixed-cycle fuel economy is rated at 6.92 l/100 km. If driven by electric power only, range is barely 3.2 km at 60 kph.
Prices for the Audi Q5 for GCC have yet to be announced. Only the petrol engines will likely be offered in the UAE. Expect its introduction by early next year.

I bought a audi Q5 in UAE in 2012 but the car has navigation maps which was last updated in end 2010 due to which the new roada are not available in the map. The after sales service states that the upgradation is possible a cost. I feel like buying a latest gadget which has 2010 software in it. The sales is great with pathetic after sales service. The emails go unresponded. is it justified to buy a car only for a great engine but in terms of option gives no value for money. The decision is entirely up to the new prospective buyer.
