Rheinmetall Defense builds VW Amarok war machine
Rheinmetall Defense unveiled the war edition of the Volkswagen Amarok at the recent Eurosatory defence expo held in Paris, which is highly regarded as the Geneva Motor Show of military hardware.
Rheinmetall introduced several conversion options for the Amarok that morphs this very domestic four-door short-bed pickup truck into a Light Multi-Purpose Vehicle for military operations.
The options include reinforced suspension parts, advanced communications systems and an automated motorised turret for installing a machine gun or grenade launcher.
Military and paramilitary organisations can order their camouflaged Amaroks and choose between a variety of engines ranging up to 177 hp, with either six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic transmission.
