Subaru BRZ launched in Oman, Saudi Arabia & UAE
The Subaru BRZ, the carmaker’s first rear-wheel-drive in a long time, has just hit the dealer in Abu Dhabi. It has already been launched in Oman and Saudi Arabia recently.
The BRZ was jointly developed in a Subaru-Toyota collaboration that also resulted in the near-identical Toyota 86. In fact, the engine and certain body panels in the Toyota version still bear the “Subaru” branding. The only visible difference is a reshaped front bumper, although the BRZ is also said to have slightly-stiffer suspension for better handling.
The Subaru BRZ will only be offered in a loaded trim in the UAE, which means it has near-identical features to the top-spec Toyota 86, right down to the same 17-inch alloys and Yaris-style exhaust tips. Other features include an automatic gearbox, HID headlights, basic CD/MP3 stereo with Bluetooth and USB, and fabric seats.
The Subaru BRZ costs Dhs 126,000 and is available at the Subaru dealer in Abu Dhabi. The Dubai dealer is launching the car in a month or two with similar specifications. The BRZ has been available in Saudi Arabia and Oman since late last month.
Keep track of updates in the Subaru buyer guide.

“fully loaded” 86, with leather seats, costs 125. Why are they selling the BRZ without leather for 126? I was hoping the BRZs “fully loaded” would have more options than the 86’s.

Badly priced… The best trim I found out to be the base model which subaru could offer..

dealer of subaru in abu dhabi and oman subaru dealer is same…abu dhabi dealer always have better warranty, service package and other offers than the dubai dealer…

looks like people are more worried about fake leather seats than a proper manual transmission lol.

That is because when they applied for Driver’s license in UAE, never thought they would ever have to drive a manual.
Now I regret.

Well.. How about Turbo ? As everyone was expecting in Baru ?
ROJ
People say turbo like its an easy word to drop around…
Turbo charging the 86/BRZ will make it an expensive car.. It will mean having to install, not only a turbo kit, rather, wider tires, bigger brakes to compensate for the extra power..
This will kill its price advantage, its fuel economy advantage and its drivability among less skilled drivers… Which are all selling points for this car..
Leave the turbo kit for the aftermarket… I say..
Personally find it good as it is, especially after driving the manual which was an amazing experience.. It is not that powerful but damn its so much fun to drive..

I know about gains from Turbo. I’ve been modifying cars back in home country so i know what’s the feel of the power.. NA vs Turbo. By putting basic Turbo kit with minimum 8 Psi could’ve done job. I know it’s easy for you to say installing after market turbo kit but you know the grand problem in UAE is passing the car with a after market turbo kit ? So still you want to leave it to after market turbo kit.
As far as fuel economy is concerned, any person who is buying sport coupe is different from Nissan Sunny, Tida or Yaris crowd. so don’t mix two crowds together !
Cheers.

For the average driver they require a manageable car.. So they need to build a car that satisfies the needs of a majority of drivers..
Not every sports car owner wants to buy a thirsty car.. Plus this 86 is also meant to sell really well in places where the fuel prices and taxes are insane. Otherwise It would be peaking some 220+ HP.
So the GCC market follows suit and we get sold a global model that pleases the majority of the world markets.
I dont think its wrong to buy a sports car with the fuel economy of a Nissan sunny, I would save all those fuel bills for aftermarket mods..
Plus, ATC already noted that modifying cars will be soon legal in the UAE as there is a law being written as we speak.. Good news..
Turbo or not the 86 is meant to be affordable, cheap to run and derivable, this is its selling point.. Otherwise, it wont compete..
People here might look at things differently since fuel is cheap and there are no taxes but I still find it a sensible choice.

Well in that case if you have money to buy the car you have to money to afford the gas.
Also if you think cars with Turbo aren’t fuel effecient first get the proper knowledge.. We have open example of Golf GTI better go read review of Mash !
Anyone who is looking for a manageable car would go for a saloon not for sports car or a sports coupe.

You must be so cool..

The price is disappointing news. If Subaru really wants to sell the BRZ here agaisnt Toyota 86, its price should undercut 86 at each grade. Top loaded BRZ at 126k, while loaded 86 with leather is 125k…what are they thinking?
In the ideal world Subaru would have offered manual transmissions with higher trims to fill the gap in the 86 range from Al Futtaim, IMO. I am a science graduate, not a MBA holder but really I think the Dubai dealer of Subaru is doing a poor job of marketing this respected brand.

dont worry next yr u could buy a 2012 BRZ much cheaper…subaru dealer in abu dhabi always have old stocks as they are not hot sellin cars…they sell them much cheaper once the new stocks come…

Subaru still think they are cool дшлу in the 90s, but their time has gone, as well as customers, so they had to go to Toyota, but they missed a chance here as well as they can not at the price or quality to sell the same shit, or candy. but I’m very regret about, and yet I love Subaru for opposit boxer and four-wheel drive. Local dealers do not sleep, they do not want even wake up.
Optional 86 is great and cool, please go to the AFM Festival City.

i test drove this car, well its fun to drive and sporty but i don’t wanna buy a sport car without power like just for the looks… hope soon a turbo charged version will be released… then i will go for it but now im not convinced…
