“THE AGELESS” classic car race to take place in the UAE
DM Cube, a UAE-based event management company, has announced that they’re launching “THE AGELESS Mythical Cars Tour UAE 2013”, a regularity race scheduled to take place across the UAE from December 9 to 13, 2013.
The approximately 1000 km race will see 150 authentic classic cars drive across the roads of the UAE starting from the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi, and make their way across different emirates to come full circle for a finish in Abu Dhabi.
Regularity racing is also known as Time Speed Distance rallying, whereby the objective of the race is not to speed past the competition but to maintain specific times with precise average speeds on a predefined route. Usually conducted on public roads, the streets of the UAE will be raced by international brands including Alfa Romeo, Bentley, Bugatti, Ferrari, Jaguar, Lancia, Maserati, Mercedes Benz and Porsche. Participation in the race will be by exclusive invitation only and gather 150 high-profile drivers that include celebrities, prominent international jetsetters, reputable businessmen and passionate collectors of classic cars from the GCC and the rest of the world.
Following the race, the cars – which have been divided into different age classes, will compete for another win. A committee of key figures in motor sports will elect a winner in each age group, not for the beauty of the car but for the intrinsic technical innovations exhibited in the model. Finally, the official “THE AGELESS” trophy will go to the winner of the ultimate race.
Claudio Barro, Operation Director at DM Cube, commented: “The event will be open to authentic cars made before the 31st of December 1970, categorised by age. The selection will be made by those who understand the ins and outs of these cars, thereby ensuring quality in the selection process.”
The open day on the 8th of December, in Yas Marina Circuit, will include technical checks car shake down and time trial tests to ensure that all cars meet the required specifications to participate in the event. This will be followed by the official opening ceremony in Abu Dhabi.
The first leg starts on the 9th of December at Yas Marina Circuit. The second day sees drivers making their way to Al Ain from where they take off for the third leg of the race. The longest drive will see drivers going to Ras Al-Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain, Ajman, Sharjah and making a final stop at the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. On day four, drivers head back to Abu Dhabi for the official final leg of the race. The closing ceremony will be held on the evening of Friday, December 13th.
Succeeding the race is an all-day auction that will be held on the 13th of December at the Emirates Palace. 70 cars will be participating in the auction and they will be displayed a few days before the event.
