So we got a 2013 Mazda CX-9
Our first test car for Ramadan is the Mazda CX-9, a car that is seemingly loved unconditionally by its owners, but one we haven’t driven before. The 2013 iteration of the CX-9 is a facelifted version with carryover mechanicals and some interior enhancements. Is the forgotten Japanese contender in the hotly-contested midsize segment as good as we hope it is?
For starters, the exterior styling is deceptive, but in a good way. At first look, you’d think the CX-9 is one of the smallest midsize crossovers in the segments, maybe even one that borders on compact. However, looking at the specs, it’s quite possibly the longest one in the segment, longer than even the Explorer, Durango, Pathfinder and Pilot!
Inside, the cabin trim is very upscale, with cushy door panels and premium detailing. Don’t touch the dashboard though, as it’s just a big chunk of hard plastic. The touchscreen does everything you need it to do, but it’s a bit complicated, and the buttons are tiny.
Cabin space is great, if you don’t care for the third-row slaves. If you do, then you have to slide the second row forward. The boot is decently sized, even with all seats up.
The CX-9 is yet another example of Mazda’s suspension-tuning prowess. While its weight is evident, it still caught us off-guard with its hot-hatch characteristics at the limit. But more on that in the full review.

So question for the expert- and I have been waiting to ask this ques-
How do you rate this CX9 in comparison to new Pathy2013.
I am left with only these two vehicle in my list and I need to decide asap.
Thanks a ton in advance.
Mashfique Hussain Chowdhury
This more fun to drive, but Pathy is slightly more spacious and comfortable.

I drove both of these for a week and felt the Pathfinder was better though it looks much worse from the outside. The entertainment system is easier to use, and is more spacious overall.
Mash, did you feel the CX9 lacked downshifting punch when overtaking on the highway?
That was the main issue I had with the CX9, along with the slightly user-unfriendly touchscreen
Mashfique Hussain Chowdhury
Correct.

Good family wagon with tons of space
