2014 Mercedes-Benz GLA 45 AMG revealed ahead of Detroit

Mercedes-Benz has officially revealed full details of the GLA 45 AMG ahead of its debut at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show.

Under the hood, the GLA 45 AMG has the same 2.0-litre turbocharged unit as the A 45 AMG, and it produces 355 hp and 450 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. According to Mercedes-Benz, the all-wheel drive GLA 45 AMG can hit 0-100 kph in less than 5 seconds.

While the GLA 45 AMG runs mainly on its front wheels, if traction is needed, 50 % percent of the power can be sent to the rear axle by the drivetrain.

The AMG sports exhaust system in the GLA 45 AMG features large pipe cross-sections and an automatically controlled viarable vane. An AMG Performance exhaust system, also equipped with an exhaust vane, is available as an optional extra.

To keep things in check, the Electronic Stability Program is configured as a three-stage ESP. The GLA 45 AMG comes with three transmission modes: “ESP ON”, “SPORT Handling Mode” and “ESP OFF”.

There is also an ESP Curve Dynamic Assist which during hard cornering, provide braking interventions on the rear inside wheel to help it turn tighter and reduce understeer.

Different packages are on offer for the GLA 45 AMG according to the customers needs, in terms of performance as well as visual upgrades.

The Mercedes-Benz GLA 45 AMG could make its debut in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and other GCC countries in the summer.
