2016 Mercedes-Benz GLC officially revealed
Mercedes-Benz have officially unveiled the GLC, the crossover which is set to replace the unloved GLK.
Looking nothing at all like the outgoing GLK, it takes on Mercedes-Benz’s new design language. The interior looks similar to the one in the current C-Class with its wide centre console and a screen sticking out on top of the A/C vents. It is said to be more spacious than the current GLK, thanks to the 11.8 cm longer wheelbase.
It is also 80 kg lighter than the GLK, thanks to a mix of different materials used to make the body which includes aluminium and high-strength steels.
Under the hood, the GLC 300 gets a turbocharged 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine which produces about 241 hp and 369 Nm of torque, which can be had in either two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. Power is delivered via a 9-speed automatic transmission.
A new GLC 350e 4MATIC plug-in hybrid is available now, which uses a 208 hp petrol engine coupled with a 114 hp 85 kW electric motor, which is enough to send it from 0-100 kph in 5.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 235 kph.
The 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLC should arrive in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and other GCC countries before the end of the year.
