Buick Avista concept unveiled at Detroit
Hinting at an alternate future for GM’s lineup is Buick’s Avista concept. The handsome coupe made its first appearance at the North American International Auto Show last week.
The Avista sports a striking exterior which is complemented by edgy headlights and taillights, carbon-fibre front spoiler and bold chrome-grille with mesh inserts. The car also receives a sculpted hood, muscular rear fender and swooping dual-exhaust pipes.
The Avista concept is powered by a GM-derived 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 motor developing an impressive 400 hp. It is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
The interior receives typical Buick treatment, with ‘Superior Blue’ and ‘Mist Gray’ leather upholstery, carbon-fibre trim and aluminium accents on the dash and the seats. The car will also be fitted with a fully-digital instrument cluster, IntelliLink infotainment system and touchscreen controls on the full-length centre console. Other features include a panoramic glass roof and two individual rear seats.
The “contemporary grand tourer” certainly ticks the right boxes in terms of design and powertrain. However, Buick haven’t made any statements on the future of the Avista.
