Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace 2018 7-seater leaked

Following teasers in the form of sketches, Volkswagen has unofficially unveiled the seven-seat model of their Tiguan crossover via a so-called leak. Shown here in China-spec, the new model is named the Tiguan Allspace or Tiguan L, depending on the market.

The VW Tiguan Allspace is exactly what anyone might expect from a Tiguan with an extended body. The design is the same as that of the 5-seater version from the front and rear, except for a few subtle differences. But from the side, the extra 11cm length is easily spotted courtesy to the longer rear doors. The extra length liberates more room in the interior to fit in an extra row of seats. In typical crossover fashion, expect the last row to be strictly for children. So if you want a Volkswagen to seat seven in comfort, you’d be better off with the Atlas. The extra room also translates to more cargo space.

The Tiguan Allspace uses Volkswagen’s latest MQB platform which also underpins the normal Tiguan. The engine choices on the Tiguan Allspace will include a variety of turbocharged gasoline and diesel engines. The power will be delivered via the front wheels or all four wheels if you spec it with the optional 4Motion setup. According to the engine chosen, the Tiguan Allspace can be had with an 8-speed automatic gearbox or a 6-speed manual gearbox.

The American version of the Tiguan Allspace will be revealed to the public at next month’s Detroit Auto Show. The European Tiguan Allspace will likely be launched at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show in March 2017. It remains to be seen if this version is offered in the UAE and GCC.

  1. Would be good to have as an alternative to the regular Tiguan.
