2018 Hyundai Accent revealed
At the Chengdu Motor Show in China, Hyundai took the wraps off the all-new 2018 Accent. Following the lines of its bigger brother, the Elantra, the new Accent looks much sharper than the current model. The new Accent is based on a concept Hyundai showcased at the 2016 Beijing Motor Show.
The front of the car looks sharper with the trapezoidal grill lined with thick horizontal slats. The updated model has grown in length, breadth and height, while the original wheelbase length of 2570mm is retained. The new car measures 4380mm long, 1728mm wide and 1460mm high. The headlamps will feature projector lights with LED running lights. The rear also takes up a new shape. The long tail-lamps look quite sleek as they wrap over the sides of the rear fender.
In the interior, a new infotainment system which supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is the biggest addition. The dashboard itself has adopted styling cues from the Elantra.
Powertrains will probably include 98 hp 1.4-litre and 121 hp 1.6-litre petrol units which are currently offered with the outgoing model. Similarly, the current 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic gearboxes are believed to be retained, as official information is scarce at the moment.
Expect a UAE, Saudi and GCC debut by the end of summer 2017, although it’s possible the GCC-spec Accent may look a bit different.
