2017 BYD Tang 100 is a 505 hp SUV
Chinese manufacturer BYD has rolled out a new model called Tang 100 with some numbers that promise a lot.
BYD had this model in its portfolio and now they have refreshed it. The BYD badges were crossed out and were replaced with new Tang badges. The exterior of the car is handsome, to say the least. The design is contemporary and will fit in well with the bustling crossover crowd in the market. The interior is also a nice place to be in. The large screen for the infotainment system is placed bang right in the middle of the center console. The steering wheel also gets the Tang badge instead of a BYD logo. There is a built-in air freshener with a read-out screen as well.
The Tang 100 gets a 205 hp 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine under the hood, coupled with two electric motors that produce 150 hp each. This combo outputs a massive 505 hp and 820 Nm of torque. Thanks to this firepower, the Tang 100 accelerates from 0-100 kph in 4.9 seconds. A six-speed DCT gearbox is used to deliver the power to all four wheels.
The Tang 100 is a dual-mode hybrid as it allows operation in both pure-electric mode (EV) or in hybrid-electric mode (HEV). In EV mode, the Tang 100 has a range of 100 km (hence its name) and it will return a fuel consumption of just 2 litres/100 km.
The arrival of the Tang 100 into the UAE or other GCC markets is not a certainty but BYD’s presence in the region does not render it a far-fetched assumption either.
