2019 Dodge Charger R/T and Hellcat gets updates

Hot in the wake of its crazy Coupe brother, the Challenger, the 2019 Dodge Charger gets a facelift as well. The new lineup starts from the base SXT to the mental Hellcat. The available variants include the SXT, GT, SXT AWD, R/T, R/T Scat Pack and the Hellcat. With the upgraded Scat Pack, there seems to be no mention of a specific Charger SRT model, so we assume it is continuing without changes.

Just like the Challenger Hellcat, the Charger Hellcat gets some goodies from the Demon which includes Line Assist, the After-Run Chiller which cools the supercharger once the engine is turned off, and torque reserve. The aesthetics of the Hellcat gets subtle updates in the form of new badging, new grille with dual air intakes, satin black hood option, 20-inch forged “Brass Monkey” wheels and an Alcantara trim inside.

But unlike the Challenger Hellcat, the Charger Hellcat gets no extra power. The output from the supercharged 6.2-litre V8 remains the same at 707 hp. Down the ladder, the Charger R/T Scat Pack clocks 485 hp and 644 Nm. It also gets the new grille and air inlets. The regular R/T comes with a 5.7-litre V8 producing 370 hp and 535 Nm of torque.

A new entrant to the 2019 Dodge Charger lineup is the SXT AWD which is powered by a Pentastar V6 which produces 300 hp and 358 Nm of torque. It gets an active transfer case and front-axle disconnect. Adding more goodies like performance suspension, 3.07 rear axle ratio, 8.4-inch Uconnect screen, and steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters to the SXT AWD, will yield the Charger GT. There is the Dodge Charger SXT entry model with a 292 hp V6 making 352 Nm of torque. The power is handled by an eight-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission.

U.S. orders for the 2019 Charger will be opened this month and the vehicle will reach the dealerships by the end of this quarter. Expect UAE and GCC sales to begin next year.

Keep track of updates in the Dodge buyer guide.
