2021 Bentley Bentayga Speed debuts in facelifted range

2021 Bentley Bentayga Speed debuts in facelifted range

Bentley is in the process of updating its range to flaunt a new design language. Their Continental GT and Flying Spur models have already received the treatment and the recently-revealed mid-cycle facelift of the Bentayga brought the behemoth closer to the rest of the range. The Speed version has just been announced.

The 2021 Bentayga Speed sports a new design similar to the regular version, but with mildly different exterior trim, exhaust tips and wheels. Buyers can get a “black pack” tossed in as well if they fancy most of the chrome trim replaced with black bits.

Inside the 2021 Bentayga range as a whole, the changes are limited to a new digital instrument cluster, a larger 10.9-inch infotainment screen with Wireless Apple CarPlay, and new interior trim choices including Alcantara. The navigation system gets improved with three-dimensional displays while the heads-up-display has been updated with and additional projections.

If you remember the old Bentayga Speed, it might not surprise you that it is the fastest SUV on sale now. Even faster than a Lambo Urus, though just by a whisker. With this much firepower on offer, Bentley seems to have decided not to add more ammo under the hood of the Speed. Thus the 6.0-litre twin-turbo W12 engine remains unchanged with 626 hp and 900 Nm. This catapults the colossal Bentayga Speed from 0 to 100 kph in 3.9 seconds.

The main difference in the engine department is that the W12 is now an exclusive offering for the Bentayga Speed. The regular Bentayga’s W12 with the lower state of tune will not be available anymore, confining it to the smaller V8 engine. This can widen the price difference between the regular Bentayga and the Speed even further for the new model year.
