2021 Opel Crossland gets facelift in Europe
Opel, the German brand is not quite a big player in the Middle East. Yet, after the acquisition by PSA, they are in the process of aggressively updating their lineup, starting with the new Corsa and Mokka. Now, the Crossland is in for a minor update, at least in Europe.
The 2021 Opel Crossland drops the X from its name for the new year. The little crossover comes with some important changes. The design is now inspired by the new Mokka, with the new Opel Vizor, a large design element that integrates the headlamps and the grille. The LED fog lights, skid plates, and alloy wheels are all updated to complete the new look.
The 2021 Crossland adds a GS Line+ trim that gets AGR-certified ergonomic seats inside. All trims are also fitted with individually sliding and reclining rear seats that help increase the trunk volume from 410 litres to 520 litres. Fold them down, the Crossland opens up 1,255 litres of space to gobble up large items. The crossover also adds Opel’s new IntelliGrip adaptive control system with five modes: Normal, Mud, Snow, Sand and ESP Off.
The mills powering the 2021 Crossland are not touched by the boffins at Opel. The Euro-spec crossover continues to be powered by the 1.2-litre petrol engine churning out 110 hp and 205 Nm. A 1.5-litre diesel is also available in select markets. The engines are offered with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic, based on the market.
The GCC-spec Opel Crossland X was launched in the UAE just a few months ago in the UAE and favourably reviewed by us, so it remains to be seen when a Middle East variant of the updated Crossland comes here.
