Maserati Grecale compact crossover debuts in blurry teasers

Back in September 2020, Maserati announced the arrival of a little sibling to their Levante SUV. Expected to compete in the highly contested compact luxury crossover segment and refresh Maserati’s ancient line-up, the new model is called Grecale, and it debuts in a bunch of official near-greyscale teaser images.

The Maserati Grecale is a little brother to the Levante and it shows that in its design. The blurry images suggest that the fastback-style, low-slung shape of the big brother is retained by the Grecale.

As expected, the Grecale will ride on the same underpinnings as the Alfa Romeo Stelvio, hence the similarity in the overall profile. This being a Maserati, will have a performance model, so the 500 hp twin-turbocharged V6 from the Stelvio would not be a surprising addition to the range. We do not have enough information on the other engine options but as per Maserati, an EV version is definitely coming.

There is no official date of the reveal, but it should be around mid-2021. If you really want to see one on showroom floors (where the newest model dates back to 2016), the COVID-19 delay may extend your wait till 2022.
