2021 Hyundai Staria minivan aspires to be a spaceship on the road
It is no secret that minivans are fast losing their popularity. To keep their heads up, brands give their minivans innovative designs, hoping to lure more attention to these practical boxes. Kia went the crossover route, adding some “rugged” appeal to their new Carnival while Hyundai has taken a different turn with their all-new minivan. The 2021 Hyundai Staria makes its debut with a futuristic, borderline sci-fi design that makes it stand out from almost everything else on the road.
Hyundai says that the Staria flaunts a “future-oriented, innovative exterior resembling a spaceship.” The overall design is unlike anything that plies on road with a wide LED light bar adorning the front end. The vertical headlights with a peculiar LED light cluster design and the massive grill give the Staria an appeal unmatched by any other minivan. The sides get their glitter from a set of 18-inch alloys and chrome accents. The mirrors get an unconventional copper finish, as do the alloy wheels. The rear, however, takes a conservative approach. The overall design of the Hyundai Staria may end up polarising opinions, but no one can deny that it is sure to turn some heads on the road.
The Hyundai Staria is offered with multiple seating configurations from just two for the van model, to seven, nine all the way up to eleven. The interior get some outlandish touches too, with a large 10.25-inch touchscreen mounted in a large panel that stands upright on the centre console. In the luxurious seven-seater version, the Staria gets “premium relaxation seats” that reclines automatically at the press of a button. In the 9-seater variant, the second row swivels to face the third-row passengers.
More details about the Hyundai Staria are still under wraps, but it’s safe to say this is not a concept.
