2023 Hyundai Stargazer is the quirky young minivan brother of the Staria
SUVs have been massacring minivans across the world. But there are some markets where they still thrive, and Hyundai aims right at the lower end of this market with the new 2023 Hyundai Stargazer.
Hyundai Stargazer size
Hyundai’s minivan lineup is known to be quirky in its looks. Just like the bigger Staria and Custo, the 2023 Hyundai Stargazer also gets a very eccentric design. It is relatively small, at only 4,460 mm long. This size will go up against the similarly proportioned Mitsubishi Xpander, Toyota Avanza, and the Suzuki Ertiga/XL6/XL7, depending on the market it hits. The Stargazer also does away with sliding doors, a trait it shares with its rivals.
Design
The long LED light bar on the front fascia reminds us of the larger Staria minivan. Bayon-inspired boomerang-shaped tail lights detail the rear. From the sides, the 2023 Hyundai Stargazer does look like a generic minivan with some quirky bits in some places.
The interior, however, is not very unorthodox. It is designed with usability and ergonomics in mind, which is perfect for a family haulier. The features include a wireless charging pad, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a 4.2-inch driver’s display.
Hyundai Stargazer Engine Specifications
The power for the 2023 Hyundai Stargazer comes from a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that makes 115 hp and 145 Nm. In India, it may appear with the 1.5-litre diesel or 1.4-litre turbo-petrol units from the Creta, but this is not confirmed yet. The transmission choices include a conventional 6-speed stick shift or a CVT unit.
Being a family vehicle, the 2023 Hyundai Stargazer can gobble up to 200 litres of cargo with all the seats up. Fold down the third row, and it can easily take 585 litres of cargo.
The 2023 Hyundai Stargazer will appear in the Indonesian market first, a popular minivans market. Rumours about an India launch are also floating around.
