First Look: Lotus Emeya, First 4-Door Hyper-GT, launched in the UAE

Lotus has officially launched the Lotus Emeya, its first-ever four-door hyper-GT, in the UAE. Combining 75 years of engineering expertise with electric power, Lotus hopes to deliver a high-performance BEV in the luxury GT segment. 

Aerodynamics and “Hyperstance”

The Emeya brings a host of advanced aerodynamic features, including an active front grille, rear diffuser, and rear spoiler, designed to enhance performance and stability. These elements work in tandem with the car’s low centre of gravity, a concept Lotus calls “hyperstance,” which is said to improve ride quality and handling.

Air Suspension

Emeya is equipped with an electronically controlled air suspension system. Sensors in the system read the road surface 1,000 times per second and adjust the suspension in real time.

Lotus Emeya Performance

The all-wheel-drive Emeya R gets a dual-motor electric powertrain that produces 905 hp and 985 Nm of torque. It has a top speed of 256 kph and a 0-100 kph sprint in under 2.8 seconds.

The base Emeya model is no slouch, producing 604 hp and 710 Nm of torque. It can run from 0 to 100 kph in 4.2 seconds and has a top speed of 250 kph.

Lotus Emeya Charging Capabilities

The Emeya has a 102 kWh battery and can use a 350kW DC fast charger, adding 150 km of range in just five minutes. Charging from 0 to 80% takes 18 minutes. The Emeya gives a range of about 520 km.

Sustainability

Lotus has taken sustainability seriously when designing the Emeya. The vehicle incorporates eco-friendly materials, including luxury thread made from repurposed fibres from the fashion industry, PVD aluminium, and sustainable options like Alcantara and Nappa leather. These materials help reduce the car’s carbon footprint.

Audio System

The Emeya has a sound system developed in partnership with KEF. The system features KEF’s Uni-Q speaker design, Uni-Core subwoofers, and Dolby Atmos-enabled 3D surround sound. This is the same sound system first introduced in the Lotus Eletre Hyper-SUV.

Lotus’ EV ambitions

The Emeya joins Lotus’ growing lineup of electric luxury vehicles and represents the brand’s ambition to become a global performance leader by 2028.
