Porsche is going to rebadge their Boxster and Cayman as “718” models this year, complete with 4-cylinder turbo engines, the first of which have just been revealed. However, the GTS models will get a stay of execution from the turbo era for now. We drove the last of these naturally-aspirated mid-engined Porsches late last year in Stuttgart, Germany.
The Jaguar F-Type Project 7 made its debut at the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed on 26 June as a concept car, but it has now become the first Jaguar performance vehicle from Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Operations team, produced in a limited-edition run of “up to” 250 units. It apparently pays tribute to the three-time Le Mans-winning D-type, which in 2014 celebrated its 60th anniversary year. The Project 7’s name pays homage to Jaguar’s seven outright Le Mans wins. The car is now on sale in the GCC.

Volvo has unveiled the all-new S90 this week, at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show. The car initially made waves last year following an online release, but it hit the news again for its standard semi-autonomous driving features — it can essentially drive itself on certain roads.

The North American International Auto Show in Detroit played host to a number of important launches this past week, and we were personally there to witness them. Oddly enough, we were expecting it to be the biggest auto show in the world, but instead found a show half as big as the one we have in Dubai. However, the stands were built up to a much grander scale and the launches were indeed world debuts, hosted by the CEOs of the carmaker themselves. BMW officially unveiled the all-new M2 Coupe at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show a couple of weeks ago, but interestingly, it also made its GCC regional debut at the 2016 Qatar Motor Show this week. Standing in as the successor to the 1-Series M Coupe, the M2 will sit ahead of the M235i in the 2-Series lineup.
