As cars get more and more tech crammed into them, it is only logical that tech companies take a shot at making cars. Sony and Huawei are already on this bandwagon but there is a new entrant. Foxconn Technology Group, the company that manufactures iPhones has revealed a range of new vehicles that they hope to start selling by 2023.
Following the footsteps of the Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Kia EV6, Genesis unveils their own version, the Genesis GV60. This joins the luxury marque’s first dedicated EV, the Genesis G80 EV. The plush Korean EV will come in single- and dual-motor flavours, with up to 483 hp.
Back when the Mercedes-Benz EQS debuted, people were left in awe, thanks to its revolutionary design. They then followed it up with the smaller EQE. The boffins at AMG, known for their diet of petrol and fire-breathing horsepower, have laid their hands on the all-electric EQS, to produce the first AMG branded EQ model, the 2022 Mercedes-AMG EQS.
In the last couple of months, the limelight on recall news was focused on Chevy Bolt EV and EUV. Chevy was left in a fix as many of these EVs caught fire in the recent past. There is more than just GM news in this section though.
Mercedes-Benz EQS was the brand’s first venture into the fully-electric sedan market otherwise dominated by Tesla Model S and Porsche Taycan. The Bentley Flying Spur became the de facto flagship sedan for the brand after the demise of the Mulsanne. Adding to its range, the Bentley Flying Spur Hybrid joins the brand’s Middle East line-up. The Bentley Hybrid will join the W12 and V8 options for the large sedan.
The EV truck market is a happening stage in the current scenario with players like Tesla Cybertruck, Rivian R1T, GMC Hummer and the recently launched Ford F-150 Lightning locking horns for the top spot. Amid all this, there are some offerings that flew under the radar and one among them is the Canoo electric truck. This futuristic truck brings in more than its cute design to the table.
Lifted wagons (not crossovers) were in a niche of their own three decades ago, with only a few still being sold nowadays to lukewarm sales. They seem to be making a minor comeback though. Ford has joined in on the trend with their new creation for the Chinese market, named the Evos.
The recently-launched Mercedes Benz EQS was a significant addition to the top rung of the brand’s EV lineup while the EQA entered the scene as a stepping stone to the marque. In a bid to expand their electric-car portfolio further, the Mercedes-Benz EQB debuts in China with seating for seven and a maximum power output of 288 hp.
Electric vehicles are definitely the trend now and all manufacturers are setting their eyes on this growing segment. Genesis, an alien to this market, is not waiting any longer and jumps straight in, with an EV adaptation of their gorgeous Genesis G80 sedan.
