Mugen, Honda’s official aftermarket arm, already has their own hyper-tuned version of the Japanese-market Honda Civic Type-R sedan. Interestingly, Europe has its own version of the Civic Type-R, based on the all-show-no-go 3-door Euro-Civic hatchback with non-independent rear suspension. The European Civic Type-R is imported to Japan in limited numbers, and this was enough reason for Mugen to offer a body kit for it.

Based on the Porsche 911 Turbo, the Avalanche GTR 650 EVO-R seems to take a piece from the names of at least four other cars to make up its long name.

American tuner Galpin Auto Sports created two customs, one out of the Ford Mustang GT and the other using a Dodge Challenger. Both cars were commissioned by the U.S. Air Force. The military plans to show them around during their 2009 Super Car Tour, used to attract young men in a recruitment drive.
