Long rumoured and then long anticipated, the M version of the 1-Series has finally debuted. Since it was impossible to call it an M1, that name already taken by a BMW supercar in the 1970s, the 2012 addition to the range will be known as the BMW 1-Series M Coupe.
The U.S. NHTSA safety agency says that BMW is recalling all 1-Series models sold in the States between 2008 and 2010 for a potential fire risk. BMW has not yet found a fix for this problem.
The Association of German Car Tuners, as illegal as it may sound, has unveiled their latest concept car creation for their “TUNE IT! SAFE!” initiative, designed by BMW tuners AC Schnitzer. The 1-Series diesel coupe police car is intended to promote safe tuning, as opposed to the outright banning of modified cars, like in some countries.
