After years of having an electric car range limited to the Leaf hatchback and an electric NV200 van, Nissan has unveiled the Ariya concept, a near-production electric SUV that’s going to rock the mid-priced EV segment.
In all the faff over Tesla this and Tesla that, most people idolising it tend to forget that a fully electric car is absolutely useless for the majority of people who live in apartments, which is why we’ve never shown any enthusiasm for EVs. But what if you could get the benefits of an electric car without the hassle of plugging one up to a faraway public charging station for an hour? That’s where the Nissan Note e-Power comes in, and it has become the top-selling car in apartment-heavy Japan.

The global launch of the 2020 Nissan Patrol was probably the biggest car launch the Middle East has ever seen. While the model is sold in only a handful of countries, it is clearly one of the best-selling premium cars ever in the UAE. The new model is more of an extensive update than a full redesign, but there’s no one better to review the changes, considering we actually own the outgoing model.

Everybody knows the Nissan Juke, for the right or wrong reasons (mostly wrong), based on their preference of car design. The little crossover was taken off Nissan Middle East’s GCC portfolio as the Nissan Kicks came in, relegated to sales only in the Levant region. Nevertheless, Nissan has now revealed the second generation of the Juke for Europe, and it looks great.

To celebrate 50 years since the launch of the first GT-R, Nissan has released a GT-R 50th Anniversary Edition package. The package offers three “heritage” exterior colour schemes – blue with white stripes, pearl white with red stripes and silver with white stripes. The colours are inspired from the KPGC10-based race cars. The “Bayside Blue” is the first time Nissan is offering the famous blue shade from the R34 Skyline GT-R model on the R35.
As comparison tests go, this isn’t the most exciting, but it is probably relevant to a whole lot more people than pitting Porsches and Ferraris against McLarens and Lamborghinis yet again (spoiler alert: Porsches and Ferraris are always better). What we have here today are the newest segment of vehicles to sprout from the SUV revolution — the sub-compact crossovers. Not quite SUVs, but not really cars either, the sub-compact crossover gives owners the feeling of driving an SUV while keeping ownership costs within car-like levels. The newest of the bunch is the Honda HR-V, going up against the immensely-successful Nissan Kicks.
We drove the facelifted Nissan Maxima at the launch event in Dubai to see what’s new and if it’s still a relevant premium sedan, as well as explain the difference between the SV and SR trims.
