Firstly, lets point out that Toyota isn’t doing all that bad in the Japanese taxi industry. However, their biggest rival at this point is Nissan, and in an attempt to overshadow the competition, Toyota is showcasing the new JPN Taxi Concept. The car was shown at the Tokyo Motor Show, and comes off as a riff on the legendary London Taxi.
Dubai’s Road and Transport Authority (RTA) recently announced that they will be reapplying the rule of charging taxi passengers toll-gate fees from the middle of January 2013.
Visitors in New York got a glimpse of their to-be taxi at the Nissan stables at the 2012 New York Auto Show earlier this month. The 2014 Nissan NV200 is all set to take over as the new official taxi, after the New York City and Limousine Commission chose to replace much of its taxi fleet by late 2013.
Silver-cab fares in Abu Dhabi will be increased from the 1st of May this year. This would mark the second increase in taxi fares, the last one being in 2010.
