2019 VW Jetta debuts at 2018 Detroit Auto Show

The Jetta had been a very successful product in the VW portfolio ever since it was first launched in 1979, even if it’s not particularly common on GCC streets. In the U.S. alone, VW managed to sell 3.2 million Jettas in this time period. Now, at the 2018 Detroit Motor Show, the sedan walked into its 7th generation with sleeker styling, a new platform and a completely overhauled interior.

Volkswagen has announced the world debut of its all-new 2011 VW Jetta, apparently as a unique design just for sale in North America, and complete with 1990s styling. The words “German engineering” are being thrown around a lot by marketing types, almost as if trying to hard to hide the fact that it will be built in Mexico. Reports suggest the new model underwent strict cost-cutting measures to make it more competitive price-wise.

VW recalling 2009-2010 DSG-equipped models


For a company hell-bent on protecting its brand image, even going as far as blocking us from reviewing their cars, it is ironic that they create their own problems. Volkswagen of America has announced a “voluntary” recall involving 13,500 vehicles equipped with its notorious DSG automanual transmission. Models affected by the recall include the Golf GTI, the Eos and the Mexican-built Jetta, built between September 2008 and August 2009.
