Mazda 2 2011 launched in U.S.

2011 Mazda
The sub-compact Mazda 2, a long-running staple of the Mazda line in Europe and Japan, has been launched for the first time in the United States as a 2011 model at the 2009 Los Angeles Auto Show. There have also been vague rumblings that the Mazda 2 is set to go worldwide, and might eventually come to the GCC.

While specs for the U.S. version have not been released, the 2011 Mazda 2 is actually just a facelifted smiley version of the existing model that has been around elsewhere for a couple of years now.

Interestingly, it is based on the Ford Fiesta platform, and likely shares similar engines. If true, the U.S. version will get a 119 hp 1.6-litre 4-cylinder, while any future UAE model will likely be saddled with a 98 hp 1.4-litre.

What do you think?

  1. looks like another yaris, but in a nicer way……..and m fedup of lookin at yaris all the time…its like any where i see i definitely find a yaris around….they have spread into the city like bees……..i think its about time to give yaris a facelift.. it definitely needs one….

well i hope the galadari group take a wise step on setting up a correct price range for this one to attract the target market of yaris buyers towards them….unlike what they did with the positioning of mazda3 sedan….
