VW celebrates 30 years of the Scirocco GTS with 2012 version

Commemorationg the 30th year since Volkswagen produced their first ever Scirocco GTS, will be a new-age GTS version of the hot hatch.

The new VW Scirocco GTS was unveiled at the Auto Mobil International show. Under the hood is the standard-issue Scirocco engine, a turbo-charged 2.0-litre 4-cylinder unit producing 207 hp.

Although VW have retained the same mechanicals as the stock car, they have given the bodywork a serious overhaul. Both bumpers, upfront and at the rear have been modified. Adding aggression into the stance are the new set of side skirts and sporty five-spoke 18-inch alloys wheels.

They have borrowed some bits from the Scirocco R as well, namely, the roof spoiler and rear diffuser. Completing the look will be a pair of racing stripes draped end to end.
