2022 Alpine A110 gets refreshed to take on the Cayman

Alpine A110, the little French sports car came in as a revival for the Alpine brand. Facing off the Porsche Cayman, the Alpine A110 now gets a nip and tuck for 2022. The refreshed sports car shows off more power.

The A110 range is renamed for the new model year. The base A110 drops the “Pure” tag to be simply called A110. The next variant, the Legende, will now be known as the A110 GT. The top A110 S remains with the same name.

Starting with the base model, it continues to sport the same 4-cylinder 1.8-litre turbo-petrol engine from the Megane RS. This mill in the base A110 produces 252 hp and 320 Nm. With this power, it takes 4.5 seconds to sprint from 0 to 100 kph. The updates in this trim come in the form of adjustable seats, a revised infotainment system, complete with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.

Moving on to the comfort-oriented A110 GT trim, it gets new leather seats, front and rear parking sensors with a camera, and tweaks to the chassis for a smoother ride. But the main changes come under the hood. It uses the same engine as the base A110, but with more power. It now produces 300 hp, along with 340 Nm of torque.

As expected, the top trim, A110 S, gets the same upgraded engine. This powers the top A110 from 0 to 100 kph in 4.2 seconds. It then propels to a top speed of 275 km/h, when the limiter is turned off. To rein this power, the A110 S gets 320 mm Brembo disc brakes at all wheels. The 18-inch wheels are shod with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres.

The 2022 Alpine A110 S also sees upgrades to the chassis and suspension, to improve the handling. If you need more aural drama, a sports exhaust is also thrown in. Even with all these updates, the A110 S tips the scales at 1,140 kg.

A few rumours floated about its release of the Alpine in the UAE after one was posted in the dealer’s underground parking lot in Dubai but it could have been just a one-off model for a VIP customer.
