The recalls were piling in hard and fast during this year. While we kept up with most of the ones which could’ve potentially affected car owners in the Middle East, we simply stopped keeping track around two months ago, because it became interminably boring writing up repetitive “recall” stories. However, we have a duty to at least highlight the ones which could matter, so here is a rundown of all the recalls in the last 60 days, most issued in the U.S. but which may also affect some GCC-spec cars. Mercedes-Benz has issued a recall for brand new 2011 E-Class, M-Class, GL-Class, and R-Class models in the U.S. due to leaky fuel filters.

After numerous complaints by owners, threats of a lawsuit and lambasting on U.S. news channels, BMW’s American arm is now conducting a full recall on all models fitted with the “award-winning” turbocharged 3.0-litre inline-6 engine due to reports of fuel pump failure.

General Motors is recalling the 2009-2010 Cadillac CTS AWD and the 2009-2010 CTS-V models due to an issue with the front passenger-side knee airbag, although it doesn’t seem like much of an issue in the first place if the front passenger isn’t a blithering idiot.

The U.S. NHTSA safety agency has issued a recall for Bentley’s classic Arnage, Azure and Brooklands models manufactured between 2007 and 2009. The retractable ‘Flying B’ bonnet ornament may corrode to the point that it doesn’t retract in the event of a crash. The government agency is worried this could be dangerous for poor pedestrians when they get intentionally run over by owners.

Honda is recalling certain 2010 Accord Crosstour models to inspect and replace the front passenger airbag if needed. The North American recall will cover about 3,340 units in total, some 700 of those in Canada. We assume the GCC region is included too.

The hot new 2011 Hyundai Sonata is third in the midsize car category in terms of sales in the high-volume U.S. market, displacing the Nissan Altima while gunning for the Toyota Camry and the Honda Accord. But such quick growth comes at a cost, as the Sonata has now been recalled for the second time.
